Getting started
- Choose your DesktopSelect the Desktop folder once on first launch.
- Review the cleanupClick “Tidy My Desktop” and check the categories and file count.
- OrganizeClick “Organize These Files” to move them safely.
- Undo if neededUse Undo to restore the latest cleanup.
Frequently asked questions
Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. Classification, moving, settings, and history stay entirely on your Mac.
Does Desktop Tidy move folders?
No. Existing folders, hidden files, aliases, and active downloads are left untouched.
What if I organize something by mistake?
Use Undo to return the files from your latest cleanup to the Desktop.
Can a file be overwritten?
No. If a matching name already exists, Desktop Tidy creates a safe new name and keeps both files.
What if I denied Desktop access?
Choose your Desktop again from the app. You can also change file access in macOS Privacy & Security settings.
